Rabbi Isaac Luria (known as the Ari) described the Ten Sefirot in great detail in a way known as Partzufim (Faces of God).  This how Prophets and Kabbalists see God in their own likeness and form.  And since humans come in many forms - Masculine and Feminine, Young and Old - the Partzufim are seen in all of these forms.  In this picture, the blue square symbolizes the Masculine, the red triangle symbolizes the Feminine, and the yellow circle symbolizes the joining of the two together.  There are 5 major Partuzfim that comprise this Family Tree of Life.

The head of the largest figure here (with white hair and a flowing white beard) represents אריך אנפין Arich Anpin (the Large Face of God).  Associated with Keter (Crown), he is like a 'Grandfather' who is unconditionally loving, accepting and forgiving.  His head containing the circle, square, and triangle represents an all-inclusive nature that is the source of everything - he embraces his entire 'Family'.

The two figures (that start from the throat of Arich Anpin and flow down with his beard) represent אבא ואמא Abba and Imma ('Father and Mother') - associated with Chochmah (Wisdom) and Binah (Understanding).  They channel the 'Grandfather's' unconditional nature into the conditional head of זעיר אנפין Zeir Anpin (the Small Face of God) - associated with the 6 lower Sefirot - Chesed (Love), Gevurah (Strength), Tiferet (Beauty), Netzach (Victory), Hod (Majesty) and Yesod (Foundation).

Ze'ir Anpin is the 'Son' (with short black hair and beard) whose nature is judgmental, conditional, and sometimes angry.  As he matures, he gradually embraces more and more of the unconditional nature of his 'Elders'.  When this 'Son' is immature he can only receive a small amount of the Wisdom and Understanding and Knowledge of his 'Parents' - which is given to him by a lower, smaller aspect of Abba and Imma (called ישראל סבא ותבונה  Yisrael-Saba and Tevunah) seen in this picture.

The lowest Partzuf - נוקבא Nukva (Female) - associated with Malchut (Kingship) is the Face of God dwelling in us.  She is the 'Daughter' (dressed in purple with red hair) who 'gives birth' to the lower worlds (represented by the small 'child' beneath her).
