The Power of Aleph

Printer-friendly versionSend to friendPDF version

Traditionally, the letter Aleph in a Torah scroll is made up of two Yods and a Vav (or Wow).  The Name of the letter Yod יוד is very similar to the word Yad יד (hand).  The Aleph in this picture is made up of two Yads and a Vav.

The five fingers of the hand (יד Yad in Hebrew) have a total of fourteen sections - the gematria of יד Yad.  Thus the ten fingers of both hands have twenty-eight sections - the gematria of Koach כח - the Hebrew word for power or potential.  You can see all twenty-eight sections of the ten fingers of the two hands that form the letter Aleph in this picture.
