From the Zohar

While this world was yet uncreated, the sefirot did not look at each other face to face. The primordial worlds were destroyed because of this as they were made without tikun. And those that are without tikun are called Fragments or Sparks... Because they ignite and shine but quickly go out... until the tikun of Atika Kadisha (Arikh Anpin).

Atika Kadisha is the Elder of Elders, the supernal Keter that is called Ayin (Emptiness) above... All the other Lights are ignited and shine from him, but he, being the Highest Light, is hidden and not known ... He is only perceived from the Lights that emanate from Him, some of which are hidden and sone of which are revealed. These are called the Holy Name - Yod Heh Vav Heh. And this is how everything is One.

We are taught that when Atika Kadisha, the most hidden of all hidden Lights, wanted to bring about tikun (repair), He repaired everything in the way of Masculine and Feminine... Chokhmah emanated and brought Binah out from itself ... Chokhmah is Abba (the Father, the Yod of the Name) and Imma (the Mother, the first Heh of the Name). These two (hidden Lights) are equally balanced as One, Masculine and Feminine... their eternal love never ceases.

When these two Lights unite and complete each other, the strong Black head of Zer Anpin, the Son (the Vav of the Name), comes out in a Light that emanates to both sides, to the right and to the left. Dew drips from the White head of Atika Kadisha onto this head of Zer Anpin and is seen in two colors.

And Hakal Tapuhin Kadishin, the Daughter (the final Heh of the Name), is sustained from this Dew. When this Maiden unites with the King (Zer Anpin) face to face all the Worlds are blessed and everyone is completely happy. Thus the perfection of everything is the Father, the Mother, the Son and the Daughter. Thus everything is included in the Name… the Father and the Mother who are the Yod and the first Heh, and the Son and the Daughter who are the Vav and the final Heh.
