Orchard of the Torah
|
|
|
 |
The Torah is sometimes
called an orchard. In Hebrew this is pardess (which
is similar to the English word paradise).
Like an orchard, the deeper one enters into the Torah, the
sweeter the fruit. Four levels of Torah knowledge, which correspond
to four areas of Torah study and four worlds, are depicted
here in four concentric rings:
-
The literal level
- the 24 Books of the Written Torah - Asiyah-body.
-
The symbolic
level - the six orders of the Mishnah - Yetzirah-heart.
-
The homiletic
level - the Talmud, and the code of Jewish law - Beriyah-mind.
-
Size - 38 x 38 cm (15 x
15 inches)
Price - $15 (including shipping and handling)
