The Holy Name of God, Yod Heh
Vav Heh, is the most important Name in the Hebrew mystical
tradition.
This Name is not pronounced,
but it is an ancient Kabbalistic practice to visualize its
four letters in the mind's eye - as the woman in this poster
is doing. Yod Heh Vav Heh means the Eternal Present
- always was, is, and will be.
This woman is aware that she was created in the image of
God's Name and is thus a reflection of the Shechinah,
the Divine Presence. She visualizes her head as a Yod,
her shoulders and arms as the first Heh, her spine
as a Vav, and her pelvis and legs as the final Heh.
We can also feel this in our bodies and see it in others.
This woman is likewise aware that
her body corresponds to the Tree of Life, the Ten Sefirot
of the Kabbalah.
The Sefirot are filters or veils for the Infinite Light
of the Ein Sof. The Ten Sefirot can be seen here
as circles containing branching trees.
Above her head is Keter, (Crown), associated with
Will. At either side of her head are Chochmah (Wisdom)
and Binah (Understanding).
At her shoulders are Chesed (Love) and Gevurah
(Strength). At her chest is Tiferet (Beauty or Harmony).
At her knees are Netzach (Victory) and Hod
(Splendor). Where her hands conceal her genitals is Yesod
(Foundation), associated with Sexuality. Beneath her feet
is Malchut (Kingship) - the ability to reproduce
in her own likeness.
